so lets put aside our negative comments and throw a cyber-space send off for violet's up coming baptism into dubdom.

she said she's planning on getting baptised soon and clearly our advice and negative thoughts are hurting her feelings.

Oh yeah, you shouldn't say such things to a JW, almost forgot. Such unclean phrases must never utter your lips from now on.
Just keep your spirit and never let anyone try to take away your God given spark and freedom of thought. He loves you the way you are and does not require you to feel lowly or undeserved of his love. Don't let mere humans make you ever think otherwise. As much as I hate the commercialism of the phrase "what would Jesus do?" it fits almost any situation you can come across.

Did you have a "religious experience" ?

by "religious experience" i mean a moment, an incident, where you felt that god was directly addressing you thru a public talk, a watchtower article.

did god give you a "sign" that convicted you of the truth of "the truth"?.

When I could almost hear Jesus repeating the scripture "For my yoke is kindly, and my burden is light.". I heard it and knew that I wasn't coming to another meeting at the kingdumb hall ever again. I was sitting in a meeting, arrived a few minutes late ( due to car trouble and arguing about going with the hubby) with tired cranky children, and exhausted and miserable about having to be there just to hear some young brother struggle through an extremely boring bible reading.
That was God's way of helping me out I guess.

I do regret being so immersed in the "truth" when my brother died. My sister and several close relatives all had unbelieveable experiences that has made them feel that they were "touched" by my brother's spirit and I was the negative one who didn't believe in that "satanic" stuff. If it's true (who knows for sure) then I was skipped because my mind was so negative and closed to such an experience. I feel so sad when I think about the lost moment I could have had.

Abaddon, you've got it together, I like how you put things. I agree with everything you said.

Butalbee, if you have to hide it from your mate or it causes them pain and you still do it, it's wrong.

I have an open marriage and we discuss this kind of thing with each other all the time because we don't want anything to hurt the other. We enjoy our "freeness" but we also love and respect each other more than we want to "play" with others. Of course, some people are not as open sexually and would gasp at the sight of nudity on the net and just ban it all. If you're married to someone like that, chances are you knew they were like that to begin with. It would be up to you to try and encourage more sexual openness before going to someone else for something you're lacking.

My husband thinks you're sexy by the way.

That's exactly how my mom looks at it. Scary.
That anyone who has it good is being played by Satan as part of his plan to keep them from serving god.
She sighs that she's being paid back for the years she wasn't a good witness (I disassociated).

That's truly disgusting.
I was there only because of my mother. I am disassociated and I ended up sitting in the front row and I was the first person on our side to be handed the bread and wine, so I guess it maybe depends on the people or congregation. Either way, it was wrong, but t hen again, so is the whole religion in my opinion.

Ignored Aspect of Pedophilia

much has been said about pedophilia among jws, as it should be.

but there is one aspect of it that i don't remember anyone bringing up, and it's very, very telling.. in something like 95% of all cases of pedophilia, the spouse knows what's going on.

I was molested at an early age and I swear I can tell which girls have been or are being molested. I almost get paranoid if my daughter is spending the night with a cousin (never at a friend's house that I don't know well0. I quiz lightly on all kinds of things trying to open up any discussion if she's felt "weird" at all by being there. I look at her for signs and am always trying to make sure she knows to stick up for herself without putting fear into her.

I cannot believe that a mother would not know if her own husband was abusing the child in this way. It just seems hard to understand, though I imagine that some are gullible and not attune to their children or spouse, but for the most part, it has to be instinctual, right?
I suppose if they suspect, but don't have proof they can either try to find out and take care of the "mess" or they can deny it and avoid the signs to get out of cleaning up the "mess". Thing is, it comes back to haunt them in the end.

I think to not protect your own child is even more sick in a mental way than the pedophile. It's just so wrong.

It can have such a strong hold on you, but learn all you can so you can use knowledge to set yourself free totally from the beliefs. This forum is a good start.

Do we need a new book?

its been noted on another post how some of the books exposing jehovahs witnesses are getting out of date.. isn't it about time for a new one?.

what would you like to see contained in such a book?.

who would be in best position to write it?.

I know, "The Best of JW.com" a compilation of the best and most of informative threads of 2002.

You'd have to get permission from every single person, don't know how feasible it would be, but for those without internet access, it would be quite the eyeopener.

Look at me, I'm supposed to be designing a website and I'm still here!
